The Evans EC Resonant is a 10" resonant drum head designed to make tuning easier and give you better control over the overall drum sound. Its built-in Edge Control Ring stabilizes the head and keeps overtones in check, resulting in a cleaner, more defined tone.
Resonant heads can be tricky to control at low tunings, where overtones tend to take over and the pitch feels unstable. This is where the Edge Control Ring helps: it sits at the edge of the head and dampens unwanted overtones without choking the tone. The result is a head that's easier to tune and stays stable even when you drop the pitch.
The ECR follows the same design philosophy as the popular EC2 and EC1 heads, but in a resonant version made for the bottom side of the drum. It's a natural choice if you already use the EC series on the batter side and want a consistent sound concept throughout the drum.
