The Evans EC2S Frosted is an easy-tuning drum head built with an EC Control Ring for natural overtone control. Compared to the previous model, the EC2S offers a more open tone on smaller sizes and better overtone control on larger ones. A good choice if you want a head that's quick to tune and keeps the tone in check.
The head uses Evans' two-ply construction with an integrated control ring sandwiched between the plies, damping unwanted overtones without choking the tone completely. The result is a head that responds quickly to the stick and gives clear attack without turning uncontrollably ringy.
Sound Character
On smaller drums, you'll notice a more open, airier tone compared to earlier EC models. On larger drums, the control ring cuts overtones more effectively, giving a tighter tone that's easier to tune cleanly across the whole kit.
