To musicians and jazz funs of the last 50 years, Buddy Rich remains at the top of the list. Says Phil Collins, "He was a one-off. As a drummer there was no-one like him". On October 3, 1998 at the Manhattan Center in NYC, Phil Collins, Dennis Chambers and Steve Smith performed in the Buddy Rich Band in a spectacular tribute to Buddy Rich. Luckily, there was someone there with a video camera. This excellent 143 minute DVD features highlights of that concert, five rare clips of Buddy Rich, as well as insightful interviews with each of the featured drummers. Includes special DVD features of three bonus performances, one by Dennis and two by Steve. Almost half an hour of new material!

A Salute to Buddy Rich features Phil Collins, Steve Smith and Dennis Chambers with the Buddy Rich Band and Buddy’s Buddies. Eight compositions are performed by Phil Collins, including several from his own repertoire, as well as several from Buddy’s original repertoire. Two great tunes from Buddy’s song book are performed by Steve Smith and two by Dennis Chambers, along with rehearsal footage, interviews and three vintage clips of Buddy Rich himself!
